In-line deflagration arresters are suitable for use with all pipework systems and pipe connections at container openings where explosions (deflagrations) of flammable gas/air or vapour/air mixtures may occur, which propagate at subsonic speed and do not produce a shock wave.
Deflagration arresters of types DFE are designed to prevent a flame flashback during deflagrations of potentially explosive vapour/air or gas/air mixtures of explosion group IIA (maximum experimental safe gap greater than 0.9 mm) at a maximum operating pressure of 1.2 bar and a maximum operating temperature of 60 degrees C. The pipe section L on the unprotected side between the possible ignition source and the arrester must not be longer than 50 nominal pipe diameters (L< 50 x D). The nominal diameter of the connected pipework must not exceed the nominal connection diameter of the deflagration arrester. The arrester is mono-directional; the protected side is marked with an arrow and a plate.
The arresters consist of a housing of made of steel/stainless steel with an arrester package of two flame barriers. They are constructed in angle design. For simple maintenance you can disconnect the cover from the housing and take out the flame arrester package.
Deflagration arresters are delivered along with a declaration of conformity and with operating and maintenance instructions.
Deflagration arresters made of steel 1.0120 and stainless steel 1.4301 and 1.4571 with nominal diameters of DN 80 to DN 150 are available with the following types of connections:
- M sleeve (female thread)
- F flange connection
- A welded end connection
- G male thread
Any combination of connection types at both connection ends is possible.
